Thank you all for your trust and support over the past few years! It means a lot! The fact is I do plenty of mountaineering here in Slovenia and know a lot beautiful trails in all the Julian Alps, Karawanks, and Kamnik-Savinja Alps (come follow my Facebook page for more mountain adventures). Even though I’m not a mountain guide myself (yet?), I have friends who are. Over the past few years, I’ve answered tons of your emails and messages, shared advice about the best possible routes in given circumstances, and written about beautiful hikes and climbs in our Alps. Now, however, I’ve decided to partner with my good friend Miha Habjan, an experienced IFMGA mountain guide, to offer all of you a most comfortable and secure way to go out there and experience Slovenia’s spectacular mountains yourself! Options that go beyond a good read. So, here is my first selection of Slovenia’s favorite mountain hiking / climbing tours and I promise there’ll be more in the future!
TWO-DAY TRIGLAV, PRAG ROUTE

There’s certain allure of climbing Triglav, Slovenia’s highest mountain, over its grand Triglav North Face, a 3-km wide and 1-km high vertical face. The Prag Route, arguably the easiest route crossing the Triglav North Face, and as such appropriate for intermediate hikers up (or beginners with a mountain guide), traverses the remarkable kingdom of the legendary Goldhorn, a white chamois with golden horns that had supposedly chased away everyone upon intruding into his territory. Expect high, hard and spectacular, as we climb over the Face on the first day, spend the night high up in the mountains in either the Kredarica Hut or Valentin Stanič Hut, ascend to the peak of Triglav the next morning and then return back to the Vrata Valley. THREE-DAY TREK TO TRIGLAV OVER THE LAKES VALLEY
Triglav Lakes, the Big Lake, Julian Alps, Triglav, Slovenia
Arguably the most beautiful Alpine valley in Slovenia, the Triglav Lakes Valley extends about eight kilometers from the 1,294 m elevation above the steep wall of Komarča above Lake Bohinj to the 1,933 m elevation not too far from Triglav itself.

Our comfortable three-day trek begins above Lake Bohinj from the Blato Plateau, passes beautiful meadows, old wooden mountain huts, an Alpine lake and then enters the arguably most beautiful Alpine valley in Slovenia, the Triglav Lakes Valley. Over the course of the first day, we trek along flower-speckled back country beneath steep faces of impressive mountains, rest beside photogenic lakes and spend the night in the otherworldly Zasavska Hut on Prehodavci. On our second day we enter a more serious terrain, approach Triglav, the highest peak of Slovenia, and spend the night in the Planika Hut below the great peak. On our third day we make the final ascent of Triglav, enjoying the spectacular views from the rooftop of Slovenia. Afterwards, we return back to Krma, another beautiful valley, toast to our amazing adventure, and finally return back to Lake Bohinj.

TWO-DAY TRIGLAV, BAMBERG ROUTE
Čez Plemenice, the Bamberg Route to Triglav
Interwoven with numerous secured routes, there is one route to Triglav in particular that boasts superlatives. The longest and the most difficult route, which is also the most precipitous and wild, yet at the same time the most beautiful and panoramic. That’s only the “Bambergova” Triglav via ferrata route also called “Čez plemenice”, winding its way up on the right corner of the vertical and majestic Triglav North Face. The wild ambience, heart-pounding views and the “royal” trail will fill every mountaineer with unforgettable feelings of great pride, satisfaction and accomplishment that only difficult mountains can. Are you up to the challenge?
