1-Day Tour, start from Krnica Hut, pick-up in Kranjska Gora
Surely the wildest and most secluded part of the Triglav National Park, the Martuljek Mountain Group is mostly famous for its pointy peak Špik. Špik is also one of the few mountains in the group with marked trails. If the mountain shows its wild and vertical side to the north, the southern face is much more friendly. Although the trail is long yet not too demanding, those who tackle it are handsomely rewarded with a stunning panorama and that specific feeling of utter satisfaction that only the wildest mountains of the Julian Alps can give you.
Guided by an experienced mountain guide.
With a parking lot only 20 minutes away from the Krnica Hut, this is definitely the preferable route to choose for a serious yet not too demanding a route to Špik. The first hour and a half is more or less light hiking, which then gradually gains in steepness and precipitation. The trail is nicely secured though, making climbing pleasant, and offering nice views while you're at it. The ascent usually takes 5 hours, while the descent about 3 hours.
"If you are in Slovenia and looking for a mountain adventure, do yourself the favor of contacting Exploring Slovenia! Neja was extraordinarily helpful in selecting a hike that would be challenging but doable and safe for our group, organizing a guide and curating an incredible experience. The guide she set us up with, Franci, was friendly, easy going and set a perfect pace for the hike we did hiked Špik mountain. Before and after our official hike, Neja responded to my numerous emails in a very timely fashion, and after our guided tour gave me several other recommendations for hiking in the area. I was able to extend my trip for 3 days and she recommended 3 extraordinary hikes that elevated my whole trip: Triglav Double Lakes, Viševnik and Jezerski Stog. The fall colors, vast peaks and well maintained trails were truly remarkable. Her friendliness, enthusiasm and professionalism far exceeded my expectations. She went out of her way to make sure I had a great time in Slovenia hiking and I truly can’t thank her enough!"
