Day 1 | Bled - Lake Krn Hut

After starting our journey in Bled, we drive to Lake Bohinj, where our hiking adventure in the mountains begins! We enjoy a slow ascent through a beautiful forest, with the shaded trail offering occasional views of Lake Bohinj below. As we reach the tree line, the views become spectacular, revealing an entire amphitheater of peaks and the shimmering lake beneath us.

After lunch at a picturesque mountain hut, we continue towards Lake Krn along a stunning trail. The route features classic alpine scenery, sweeping vistas, and a gentle, steady incline. Along the way, we pass numerous remnants from World War I, adding historical depth to the natural beauty.

Upon reaching Lake Krn—the largest high-alpine lake in Slovenia—we can spend the rest of the day relaxing by the water. We end the day with dinner at the Lake Krn Hut.

Elevation gain for the first day is around 1,167 m.
