Rjavina and Triglav via Ferrata
2-Day Tour, start from Kot Valley, pick-up in Bled or Kranjska Gora
If you’re into a more intimate and peaceful Alpine experience in the heart of the highest mountains of the Julian Alps, then this lonely mountain and its via ferrata will be the right choice for you. Its enchanting yet thrilling trail uses smartly all natural crossings across the mountain’s wild north face and offers an interesting view of the other side of the mountain through a naturally carved window. A lonely mountain just a shot away from Triglav, Slovenia’s highest, yet so largely overlooked, it is surely the best place for a solitary adventure and an unforgettable experience.
Day 1 | Kot Valley - Stanič Hut
After meeting at the parking lot in the Kot Valley, a beautiful glacial Alpine valley in the Triglav National Park, we head towards the highest mountains in Slovenia. The trail first crosses a forest, which eventually thins out, giving way to spectacular views of Triglav and other surrounding peaks. Once out in the clear, the trail gradually gains in difficulty but never becomes too technical. You'll be able to look through the mountain on the other side to see Škrlatica, the second highest mountain in Slovenia. After about 5 hours, we'll reach the top of Rjavina, enjoy spectacular panoramic views, and then slowly head down to spend the night in the Valentin Stanič Hut.
Day 2 | Stanič Hut - Kot Valley
The next early morning we head towards the foothills of Triglav, which is just an hour away, and climb Slovenia's highest mountain! The first-timers will be surprised to learn of the Slovenian mountaineering habits, and everyone will be mesmerised by incredible views from the very top of Slovenia. Afterwards, we descend back down to the Kot Valley.
