The hike to Golica is a springtime spectacle, famed for its endless fields of wild white daffodils that blanket the landscape from late until early June, when they are in full bloom. But the allure of Golica extends beyond its floral beauty. From its summit, hikers are treated to breathtaking panoramic views not only of the Alps and the majestic Triglav but also stretching all the way to Austria’s towering Grossglockner. This stunning journey is ideal for those in fairly good physical condition, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and awe-inspiring vistas.

Itinerary

After our morning meeting in Bled, we drive to the trailhead and start walking up a winding path through a forest. Once past the tree line, the views of the long ridge and an enchating wooden hut can be amazing on a clear day. We take our so-called "flower route" to visit all the beautiful spots on Golica with flowering daffodils, while we also hike to the peak. We stick to a scenic trail across the open ridge and thus enjoy views of Slovenia on one side and Austria on the other. Our winter route takes us to a neighboring peak with excellent views of Mt. Golica.

"We were a bit skeptical about doing the Golica hike in winter, however, it turned out to be beautiful. Due to a heavy snowfall the day prior, the guide decided it was safer to go to a neighbouring peak with the view of Golica and we must say that we loved it. She took us to high mountains at about 2000 m and we could enjoy views of Slovenia, Austria and also the rest of the alps. The guide taught us a lot about how to use the winter hiking gear properly and she also took incredible pictures of us. We both warmly recommend this trip!"

Fitness level

Easy Active (2/5) | Great for outdoor novices to active hikers; 3-6 hours of activity per day.

Technical level

T1 | No previous hiking or climbing experience is necessary. Surfaces: rolling or mountainous terrain with typically easily ascending trails, some steep ascents/descents and uneven trails.

Flowering daffodils can usually be seen in May, but also in late April and early June.
